 e public to attend a community meeting to learn more about the Highway 101
 : Santa Barbara North project timeline, construction strategy, and planned
  freeway improvements. The final segment of the project will complete the 
 addition of 10.9 miles of peak-period carpool lanes and finalize this flag
 ship Measure A investment.A new peak-period carpool lane in each direction
  between Hermosillo Road and Salinas StreetA fully reconstructed Cabrillo
  Boulevard Interchange with two new bridges and right-hand on- and off-ra
 mps, including a new southbound on-rampA teardrop roundabout at Cabrillo
  Boulevard and the Highway 101 northbound ramps to improve traffic circula
 tionPermanent closure of the southbound off-ramp at Los Patos Way due to 
 low railroad clearanceReconstructed freeway lanes to improve sight distanc
 e and meet current safety standardsUpdated storm drains, enhanced lighting
 , and new overhead signsThe project is fully funded, with construction sch
 eduled to begin in spring 2026 and continue through 2028. Early activities
  include vegetation clearing from mid-December through January, ahead of b
 ird nesting season. Due to the height of the trees, most clearing will tak
 e place at night and will require lane and ramp closures. Noise is expecte
 d during both day and night shifts while vegetation clearing is underway.F
