DESCRIPTION:The City of Santa Barbara will be hosting two community meetin
 gs to provide the latest design updates for the Lower Eastside Safety Enha
 ncements Project (Safety Enhancements Project) and the grant application f
 or the Highway 101 Pedestrian/Cyclist Bridge Overcrossing, connecting the 
 Eastside to the Waterfront.These projects originated from the community-su
 pported Lower Eastside Connectivity Active Transportation Plan, and the Ci
 ty is looking forward to sharing the progress.At these meetings, the City 
 will show the latest design of the Safety Enhancements Project, which incl
 udes:Safe Routes to School improvements, including new curb extensions and
  high-visibility crosswalks at key intersections along Montecito, Voluntar
 io, Soledad, Quinientos, and Carpinteria Streets.Bike- and pedestrian-frie
 ndly upgrades, including curb extensions along Canada, Hutash, Punta Gorda
 , Voluntario, and Cacique Streets.Salinas Street improvements, including n
 ew lighting from the five-point roundabout to the US 101 off-ramp, and new
  curb extensions at several intersections. The meetings will also provide
  the latest information on the Highway 101 Pedestrian/Cyclist Bridge Overc
 rossing and the grant application the City plans to submit in June 2026.Co
 nstruction for the Safety Enhancements Project is anticipated to begin in 
 summer 2027, and the City will continue to keep the community informed wit
